GK for IIFT skews toward trade, business, and economics rather than general trivia. Here are the three sources with the best ROI:
1. Current affairs (last 6 months is the sweet spot): The Hindu's weekly digest or any structured monthly CA PDF (GKToday or AffairsCloud are reliable). IIFT GK questions are typically 3–6 months stale relative to exam day. Focus on: trade agreements India signed, export-import policy changes, WTO/G20 headlines, and major corporate deals or government schemes in the business domain.
2. Business GK (IIFT's favourite territory): Economic Times' Brand Equity section and Fortune India's top-100 list. IIFT loves brand-to-parent company mapping (who owns what), industry-first achievements ('first Indian company to...'), Unicorn and IPO news, and key executive appointments at major companies. Build a running list of 30–40 company facts in the months before the exam.
3. Static GK and international trade: RBI/SEBI policy rates, India's major trading partners (country-wise export ranks), major multilateral organisations (WTO, IMF, World Bank) and India's recent positions in them. This area is finite and high-yield — the same set of facts recurs across years.
Study habit: 20 minutes of daily reading from 3 months before the exam outperforms any last-week cram. Keep a running note of 'IIFT-flavoured' facts as you read — at exam time, review that list rather than starting from scratch.
